Summer Nail Trends

The sun is shining and it's time to freshen up your nail game with the latest trends. From bold blue to natural nudes, we've got all the looks and tips you need to see you through the British summer.

Blue gel polish

Be bold in blue - as seen on the models at the Jenny Packham show. Choose royal blue (Luxurious Lapis is our latest blue shade), deep blue (Blue Yonder is just stunning) or shimmer blue nail polish (try Something Blue - makes a great wedding gift!), as long as it’s blue, it’s on-trend.

Many people think blue can be a tricky shade to wear but blue nail polish actually suits most skin tones and can really sharpen up any outfit. Obviously, we don’t need to point out how great blue nails look with denim!

Sweep a layer of Matte Top Coat on top of your mani for an update on the blue nail.

Stripes are still a thing and we couldn’t be happier about it! Stripes look super cool on both long and short nails and experimenting is so much fun.

For 2016 there are two rules for striped nails - 1. The stripes must be horizontal, 2. The stripes have to be metallic.

Stripes are easy to create with the SensatioNail Striping Tape. Available in gold. Simply stick onto your nail, press down, trim to size, cover with a layer of Gel Nail Top Coat and cure. Create one, two and three stripes on random nails and complete the look with matching gold or silver rings.

white nail trends   Nail trends 2016

White nails are such a summer staple. They go with everything, suit every skin tone and just scream summer fun.

We’ve seen white nails on the catwalk at the Marissa Webb show this season and the are rapidly taking over our Instagram and Pinterest accounts.

Stock up on the only white gel polish worth having - White Lily.

Reverse Tips

This one’s for those of you with long nails. Paint the nail a pale shade (try a beige such as Taupe Tulips Or nude like La Creme) Then flip your hand over and paint the underside of the nail tip a bright shade for a shock of colour.

We love this look with Pink Sand and Pink Bouquet.

This is a great twist on the 70’s beige nail trend which is so popular at the moment.

Just don’t forget to cure the underside of the nail or things could get messy!

clear gel nail polish

Clear and natural nails are going to be a big trend this summer but don’t be fooled, like natural makeup, this look is all about the preparation and creating the illusion of the perfect, natural nail.

Make sure nails are in tip top condition before painting by washing hands and nails and cleansing them with SensatioNail gel nail cleanser and lint-free gel nail wipes. Shape the nail into a short to medium oval or squoval shape.

Paint nails with two coats of Clear Gel Polish or Top Coat (curing each layer). If you need a hint of colour paint just one layer of Barely There before adding the layer of Gel Top Coat.
