How To Get Magical Metallic Nails In Minutes With Chrome Powder

Chrome nails are SO hot right now. Whether you’re heading to a festival, jetting off to somewhere exotic, or just want to look darn fabulous at home, you can’t go wrong with metallics.

We adore this new nail trend, not only because of how awesome it looks, but because it’s so easy to achieve (we won’t tell if you don’t). And to help you live this feisty fantasy, we’ve released a new collection of chrome powders, available at Boots - both online and in selected stores.

So grab your favourite colour (there are five to choose from) and follow this simple guide to creating your own metallic masterpiece.

STEP ONE - PREP YOUR NAILS

Cleanse your nails, and buff the whole surface to ensure you get a lasting wear. File to your desired shape.

STEP TWO - APPLY THE BASE COAT

You can choose any gel nail colour for your base coat. For a more subtle look, choose a white such as Not My Nana’s Pearls, or even a clear polish. For a more sultry look, choose a rich red like Never Stop Wine-ing or a black like Black Plum. The beauty of chrome powders is that they can bring any shade to life.

Cure your base coat under a UV lamp.

STEP THREE - HOW TO APPLY CHROME POWDER

Here’s where the magic happens. In your Sensationail powder set you’ll find a pot of chrome powder, an applicator and a no-wipe top coat. Using the applicator, dab a little powder onto your nail. We recommend starting with a small amount and building up to your desired intensity, but if you end up with a big blob of it, don’t worry. You can use the applicator to rub it evenly across your nail.

Don’t get too hung up on avoiding your cuticles, like you would with a gel nail polish. The powder can be easily wiped away from your skin with a little cleanser.

Once you’ve done all your nails, apply your top coat and cure under a UV lamp. Once it’s dry, remove any excess powder from around the nail with a cleansing wipe. Also, when applying your top coat, wipe the brush on a cleansing pad before dipping it back into the pot, to avoid getting the powder in the bottle.
