Some say they want jeans versatile enough for desk to dinner, while others simply seek comfort. Us? We just want jeans that make us look really, really, ridiculously good looking, and the rest is a bonus!
This is why Dorothy Perkins has recruited 5 top fashion bloggers to demonstrate 5 simple outfit formulas to master the new denim shapes of Spring/Summer 16 and we've got the best nail looks to match. Take it away girls!
How to Dress Up Your Jeans
Chloe Helen Miles recommends black skinny jeans if you’re looking for a chicer way to work denim, below she wears DP’s fantastic Lyla fit, a high-waisted denim tube pant that cinches in at the waist and is super stretchy which results in a delightful clinging in all the right places.
This outfit is all about Parisian chic (aka all black). The double denim is subtle because it’s black on black, so it’s a good way to get this trend under the radar.
Top tip: When in doubt – go black!
Nail the look: Black gel nails are in fashion again for Spring Summer 2016 so try Midnight Rendezvous for a sexy high gloss finish or top with Gel Matte Top Coatfor an edgier, more urban look. Inverse the look with white nails using White Lily and top with Matte Top Coat for a sumptuous finish.
How to Wear Ripped Jeans
People have been ripping up their jeans since punk rock landed back in the ‘70s and, just like every other trend from 1970-something, they are the trend du jour. They’re a tricky look to smarten up so we’ve enlisted the help of Veronica from bittersweetcolours.com to show us how to wear ripped jeans.
Veronica elevates DPs ripped jeans by adding oodles and oodles of glamour, a fluffy coat and hot pink heels gives this daytime look a little extra glamour.
Top tip: The trick with ripped jeans is to not let them overtake your outfit. They’re just a tasty accompaniment!
Nail the look: Keep it casual with a creamy grey such as Cool Breeze. This gorgeous colour has just a hint of blue which picks up blue denims perfectly.
What to Wear with Grey Jeans
Josie from Fashion Mumblr has the task of demonstrating to all us ‘ensembly challenged’ ladies some ideas for how to wear our spring/summer Frankie fit. The Frankie is our ultra soft jegging jean which comes in a range of washes and shades, and here it is in grey.
This look is all about muted tones – grey goes with pretty much anything but it really shines when paired with softer shades and pastel tones.
Top tip: keep it simple with lighter shades
Nail the look: Grey looks amazing with pastel tones and soft shades. Wear Pink Sand for a soft, pastel pink gel polish shade or go bolder with Intruiging Iris - a dreamy cornflower pastel blue gel polish.
What to Wear with High Waisted Jeans
Some call them mom jeans, some call them a girl’s best friend. Personally we think anything that nips you in at the waist and elongates your legs is a WIN! But we need as much help styling these bad boys as the next girl. Which is why Lucia from Style Confessional is on hand to show us what to wear with high waisted jeans! Take it away Lucia…
Lucia wears; Black Bonded Trench Coat, Black Chelsea Boots, Darcy Jeans, and she wears them damn well.
Top tip: High waisted jeans elongate the legs but shorten the body so the perfect accompaniment is a roll neck top which levels it all out by making the body seem longer.
How to Wear Leather Jeans
Leather jeans are nothing to be scared of! We promise! Because with the right ingredients, leather jeans can make you look amazing – and can even work for the office (gasp), just imagine all the style points you’ll get! Like you, we need some style inspiration, which is exactly why we’ve enlisted Amy fromthelittlemagpie.com to show us how to wear leather-look jeans.
Amy wears her leather jeans with a tucked-in black body, suede tassel jacket, and black ankle boots. Black, black and more black, basically you can’t go wrong in head-to-toe black when you’re rocking some serious clashing textures!
Nail the look: Release your inner rock chick and add some sparkle with Little Black Polish. The perfect glitter black gel polish.
